Viel Planer/Jointer Knife Sharpener AF-7

Anyone have any experience with this device? Not nearly as pricy as the Tormek, yet looks like it would be much better than the Grizzly or Busy Bee knife sharpener. I am finding getting my 20" planer and 8" jointer blades sharpened to be very expensive, as I have to ship them.

Thanks for taking the time, however, none of this addresses my question. I am looking for comments from someone with actual experience with the Viel jig.

Do you hone your blades at all once installed to extend the time between sharpening? Unless you nick them, a careful honing can really extend the life of the blades.

I thought I was going to have to send stuff out for sharpening as well, but was pleasantly surprised to find a sharpening service in town that has been there for 45 yrs and does great same-day service when required.

There was a complete set of Viel sharpening tools in Edmundston on Kijiji recently that looked interesting, but I did not inquire further. Too expensive for me, but perhaps there is some room to negotiate the price.
