Hey Guys,

My wife and I bought a house in January and the main priority once we moved in was making sure the garage was a respectable shop. The pics below represent about 8 weekends of work, now I'm ready to get started on some projects in the new space. Thanks for looking.

Very nice. I too have a developing two car garage shop however mine will see cars; I have a hard time spending 20-30k on something then leaving it outside. In my case everything is/will be on wheels and easily tucked away. Big TV.

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah where we live it very rarely drops below 40 or above 90 so the cars can live outside without to many issues...The TV is actually the smallest in the house, but I own an Home Theater Company so that part comes easy to me.

That's way too tidy look like a display stand at some woodworker show, gonna post my photo later, not going to tidy it up gonna show "as is" lol

Nice place, my garage is around that size and I also have an open ceiling like yours. The joists running across make really convenient space for storage of things you rarely use but need a spot for them.

No dust collector?

Man cave! Where's the fridge?

Just out of curiosity ... how well do televisions work in a dusty environment ... has anyone encountered a great solution for protecting one in a shop ... or have long term experience they could share?

I just finished it and I did straighten up a bit but that's how it looks currently. Will be a bit messier when the cabinets start but so be it.

It's in the back corner, you can just see it in one of the photos.

Thanks. I used Ucoat it and have been very happy with it thus far.

Nope, she is great about these things. I got the theater and the garage, she has carte blanche on the rest of the house, we're both happy with the arrangement.

The TV is an Industrial Model and there is a ventilation fan installed behind it that ensures no dust gets in the vents, my biz is in Home theater so I planned this one properly. The garage is connected to the kitchen so I'm no really in need of a fridge, I can walk the 10 feet.

A shop that clean is a sure sign of a sick mind. I am jealous.

The only thing missing is a recliner for that TV.

Bill,
I've had a regular old Samsung, bought off Craigslist, in my shop for years and have had no issues. Built a simple swivel wall mount.

A recliner might be a bit much...but for now I'm happy, about ready to start building kitchen cabinets so I doubt things will stay so clean...the TV is really handy to have, usually just have Pandora on and playing through the in wall speakers, but it's great having access to youtube to bring up a video of something your trying to do.

Awesome shop Shawn!

It'll never see a car......until the wife tells you otherwise.

I'm doing something similar. A detached extended 3 car garage (workshop, 30'x31') along with a attached 3 car garage for her.
The workshop will have a full bath, security, phone, cable and internet services. I've been following all these workshop threads to help plan my new space.

What's the little concrete pad in the corner where the planer sits? Original home for a water heater?

Gilbert, you may want to go over to GarageJournal.com, they live and breathe garages/shops over there. They're a great resource for ideas, although not all of 'em translate to a woodshop. Many do though.

I've had an old 19" magnavox in my shop for over 5 years now, no dust collector. Still works fine.

Thanks Gilbert. I look forward to seeing how your garage turns out.

Not sure but I'm guessing original water heater location.

Thanks John, I'll check that site out.

Shawn, I'll post pics when it's done but it will be a while. House won't be built till November then I still have to do all the inside work. HOV requirements necessitated money I had set aside for a new building towards the exterior masonry and landscaping.

I hope that flat screen doesn't run into a chopsaw cutoff, seems like I get about 1 a month that flies in that exact direction at force. Everything looks nice and clean-cut though, cool shop.

That's not a shop! That is an Operating Room - way too clean and organized.

Seriously, very nice. I'm jealous. I'm not sure about the TV however. I don't get into the whole man cave thing.

I don't think my "2-car" garage has had a vehicle in it in 10 years! Nice Garage-ma-hal!! :)

The garage is 19 x 20 with a little alcove, total sq ft is around 400.

Yeah it's not quite so clean now that I'm actually building projects rather than the garage being my project, thanks for the kind words.

The TV is actually pretty handy to pull up a YouTube video or a skill that I'm not particularly skilled at....the in wall
speakers are usually just blaring classic rock while I work.
