I have a Delta 31-280 Belt/Disk Sander and have problems keeping the sanding belt running correctly on the pulleys. No matter how carefully the belt is lined up will track properly for a few seconds and then begin to wander off and start to tear and shred.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Rollers clean? inside of belt clean? Did you try a new belt?
Welcome to the creek. Great bunch of folks.

And in addition do the pulleys (rollers) have a crown? The diameter in the center should be more than at the ends. Sometimes a few layers of plastic electrical tape in the center will do the trick. Wind it the right way! Of course, if they worked once as they are, they should work again. But this is a fix that may help.

Is is possible that the belt tension is either too high or to low?

I have a delta 31-730, which is their top line machine and it works flawless.
