I am building an outside deck and am seriously considering using Parallam Plus PSL beams for the support. The job would only need 3 beams 12' long. The literature indicates these beam offer superb stability in the long run. The problem centers on locating a supplier in the greater Cincinnati area that sells these beams. Any ideas?

Since they are a Weyerhaeuser product, I would think any regular lumber yard would be able to get them for you.

You may have a hard time finding them, because they suck!

Do not load inside a house wall with these beams. They act like a big drinking straw when used as you suggest and will run water into the beam pocket. If you insist, the beam needs to be wrapped on three sides at least a foot out from the over hang to keep water out of it.

There are exterior grade glue lams that are a lot better deal and do not cost much more and are easily flashable.

I used a 5.25x14x20 psl for my garage door opening.

Check with your independent lumber dealers, not Home Depot, Menards, etc.
