This is a maple burl HF from a burl that my brother in law gave to me for Christmas. He has given me a maple burl for each of the past 2 Christmases. What a nice guy!
This one measures 6.5" in dia x 4.5" in height. Danish oil and buffed. I plan on applying a few coats of Shellac and possibly WOP

Very nice work. I like the contrast of the sapwood with the burl.

lovely piece..like the shape and the light areas..the contrast is small in area, but big in appeal.

Thanks for the comments. I agree that the top looks a little precarious. With the defects and the orientation of the grain, the top could fly at any time. It felt pretty solid, but I did wear a face shield, as usual.
