Maroon Stanley

Hi all, some guy has a #3 stanley for sale for 30 bucks, say's it in good shape but the color is maroon. I know Stanley made some block planes and spoke shaves in that color and some in the 60 and 70 planes, but can find nothing on a #3. Anybody ever see one, or know if that was an origanal color for a #3 ?

my #3 in maroon. I assume it is the original but then again, I bought it on Ebay a year or so ago. Good plane.

Hi, Not sure about a #3 but I bought my Maroon #5 new in the late '60's and still use it almost daily. It has been well tuned and has a Hock iron and chip breaker and does .001 shavings w/out any problem. Bob
