About 10 years ago I bought a Delta Shopmaster drill press model DP400. Swinging an unwieldly 2x4 resulted in my smashing the switch box. I have tried Delta and independant suppliers, and they all say the switch box "is no longer available" !!!

Is this typical of Delta? If so, this may the the last Delta machine I EVER buy!

Try this link but it looks like you will have to wait a few weeks to get it. Just add the 3 w's to it.

Been there, tried that, but thanks. I just can't believe Delta wouldn't support a fairly new product!

Not exactly new news. It's been almost impossible to get any Delta parts the last several years.

Delta has been on the decline for many years now. It has been sold twice recently. The parts inventory was sold off from what I understand. I will never buy Delta again. That being said, maybe this box from the Grizzly g7944 (PN#P7943045)could be made to fit? If not I would just put on a metal electrical box and be done with it.

I have a delta 350 and ran into the same issue. I also had to replace the switch. Switch broke again I took it apart put it back together and it started working again. Whats particularly galling is that you can still buy the press but cant get parts for it. No more deltas for me either. Recently bought a General 34-01 thats no longer made but at least its well made and shouldn't need parts.

That looks really close, I may try that

Thanks!

John - Is this DP 120v?

If so - a $0.79 light circuit switch will do fine. Mount in in a cheap elect box, and drag the wires to the switch connections.

Yeah, yeah, yeah - Guys - I know - I violated any number of electric code rules here, but - really - c'mon now, eh?

Remember - it is a Delta DP. Tell me how the replacement switch is worth more than the DP? :p :p :p

Just foolin'..........but not by much. Says the former Delta DP owner. ;)

Here (http://www.grizzly.com/products/Safety-Paddle-Switch/G8988) is the switch I used to replace the one in my Delta Shopmaster DP when it failed.

Is it a plastic switch box? If it's made of ABS plastic (it probably is) you can glue it back together using MEK or Weldon #16

Here's what it looks like (sans duct tape):

Like I said, if its plastic just glue it back together. I had a drill press with a plastic switch box that broke and I just glued it back together with acrylic adhesive. It melts the plastic and welds them together.

Ditto that. I found one the same size at Granger.
Beware, Mark. The roll pin in the motor Reeves pulley has a tendency to loosen, and come out. I kept mine in with a wire tie.
I no longer have the press.
