I have a couple very large cabinets that are going to be sprayed with GF Enduro-Var.

they have so much area that I would like to break them down to a few (still good size) manageable sections.

I am not worried about mask lines because I have really good hidden areas that will be good for splitting these areas.

My main question is, has anyone ever had any bad results of blue painters tape on bare wood for a half day? ( the tape shouldn't be in place for more than about 8 hours) like adhesive being left behind on the bare wood that could show up after finish is applied to that area.

Don't go cheap. Get a masking tape that is rated for "delicate surfaces".

I have used blue tape for years and never had a problem when removing it the next day. I cannot imagine you would have a problem in 8 hours. You could always do a test first.

Good Luck with your project.

Remember too that the blue tape you want is made by 3-M. There are imitators that I wouldn't trust very far. There are also different varieties of 3-M blue tape, so read the labels. Eight hours is a pretty short time.
