I am making a gift for a friend. It is to be some kind of frame for a Chinese calligraphy of what is called "The Heart Sutra".
It is a beautifully done and simple painting 31" x 56".
So I am looking for any ideas.
I was thinking that some kind of large scroll turned on the lathe and maybe some kind of 3/4" strips woven behind it as a background, but I am fishing for ideas, so have at it. Right now I have a piece of cherry from a large pruned branch from a tree in the backyard that I am experimenting with but I am still in design mode.
This will be displayed in a prominent place in a business.
