Another misc. part in the bottom of an auction box. Thought it might be some sort of shaper spindle but haven't been able to find any references online. Thread is just shy of half inch so it would be a light duty unit if it is a shaper spindle. The chrome shaft is tapered so could it be something off a lathe? Anyone know what this is or care to take a guess?

Looks like an arbor for a grinding or buffing wheel for a lathe. If the threaded portion is 1/2"in diameter, then the taper is a number 1 Morse taper.It would fit a smaller lathe like a Craftsman.

Thanks Rick for pointing me in the right direction. Forgot about MT#1 taper since all the lathes I've ever owned have been #2 taper but that's exact what it is. Craftsmans lathe work arbor. Found exact duplicate picture online.
