I am making a Roubo style workbench out of Doug Fir (cost reasons) I have some walnut that has been sitting for 30+ years and am thinking of using the walnut for the leg vise apron, and dead-man. I will have to do glue-ups to get the walnut to thickness I need for everything but am used to that. 8/4 wood cost too much for my blood. I do have one piece of walnut that is 8/4 but am, guessing that it would be 5-6/4 by the time I am done jointing and planing. It is really "rough"! Any thought or ideas?
