Was thinking I might pour a slab of concrete into the base of my 3520b for ballast and to use as a shelf.Anyone else tried this and if so are you pleased with the end result?? presently using sand bags but those take up alot of space that could be used for other storage.

Does it wobble now?

If it is unstable now, it is likely the level set of the machine or you are turning out of round or off-set weight wood too fast. That is a heavy machine and shouldn't need ballast.

Hmm, I am trying to figure out how you would pour concrete 'into' the base of your PM. Are you talking about putting the feet into/on a footing? I have never been able to understand why people put a tool rack on the shelf under the lathe ways. I always knock my shins on them because I am almost always standing with my body up close to the lathe. The sand bags will dampen vibration better than the rigid concrete.
