That Powermatic 66 refinishing job got me to thinking about that table saw top.....


Instead of just sanding off the rust and leaving it bare, except for whatever coating was applied to prevent new rust, has anyone painted the top with say a hard marine paint or Rustoleum ?

I have not done it, but if you go to woodgears.ca and look under "Wood shop tricks" for "making cast iron slippery", he advocates using a water-based varnish followed by wax. He used Varathane floor varnish on his tablesaw top.
