High quality, professionally produced woodworking videos are, sadly, all too rare. I happened across such a video from a craftsman (Neanderthal) in Spain whose work goes from wood selection to a beautiful, finished drop-leaf table in 39 minutes. Not only is this fellow a really gifted woodworker, his work is beautifully captured by a skilled cinematographer and editor. Not a word of commentary, but terrific sounds of the "process" that any woodworker will love to hear. Should be reference material for anyone trying to explain to the uninitiated why hand-crafted furniture is more costly than folk may understand at first glance.

Don't know when I've enjoyed a woodworking nearly as much. I hope you enjoy.

Arghh:mad: See what you've done! Now I gotta see if my time making machine is working correctly. Do you have any idea how hard it is to make 39 minutes of uninterrupted "Me" time?

Loved it although a little less time spent on the chisel slurry meandering around would have been nice. ;)

a video from a craftsman (Neanderthal)

For Heaven's sake man, buy a bandsaw.:D

You're working under electric lights and you're wired for sound. It's not like you are adverse to modern advances. There is no point to roughing out the shapes by hand with your spiffy Japanese bow saw.

Using hand tools to caress the wood to it's final shape makes sense however if that's your thing and this guy's skill level is insanely great.

The video skipped over just a few minutes of painstaking fitting and endless sanding however. :)

Awesome tho.

Or at least put that Festool track to use that was hanging on the post. If I tried to rip with a saw like that, I would need to stay an inch outside of the line! :D

Using all my power tools it would take me at least 78 minutes to build that table. :D

Looks like all he uses is a wax type finish.
Beautiful work.
Must have incredible arm muscles from all that hand planing!

Wow...cool!

I think I am going to have my wife watch this. Everyday. For a year. Or at least every time she says to me, "What's taking so long with my _____?"

Then again...if she does watch it...I can just hear her saying, "See! That table only took him 39 minutes!"

I like the look on his face as he was sanding that drawer knob. No language need to understand that expression.

I think its a very nice video and a nice spacious shop, however, the reverb in that place would drive me insane. Definitely needs some acoustical treatment.

Okay, that was awesome! It's getting late and I didn't know if I'd finish the video until tomorrow, but I ended up watching the entire thing.

The camera work was excellent, and the craftsmanship impressive. Watching that video was quite calming for me. I'd have to say that it's basically meditation for woodworkers. Great find and thanks for sharing!

*yawn...* Aaaaaaaaand, now it's time to get some shut-eye...

My wife "caught" me watching this and proclaimed it woodworking porn. I'd have to agree to a certain extent; there was a quite a bit of gratuitous close ups. Great video. Thanks for posting.

Great video! Thanks for posting it. He does an amazing job expressing the visceral connection one gets when working wood with hand tools. Wood porn indeed.
