Another Wood ID if anyone is interested. The gentleman said it was mahogany, but I guess there are several different types etc. the piece was pretty big(to me anyway) 3X30X12ft

Looks very nice and it does appear to be mahogany.

A few years back I took a piece of wood into a lumberyard that specialized in exotics and asked them if it was mahogany. They said that if they carried it they would put it in the mahogany pile, but there are dozens of woods that are impossible to tell from mahogany and my piece could be any of them.

So, sure; its mahogany.

check out the wood database (google it).
The best way to check is to finely sand the end grain and use a jewelers loupe.

The picture isn't really clear but the color and what little of the grain I can see looks like some Honduran Mahogany I have.
