Wow! I'm absolutely speechless. Beautiful little boat!

BTW, is that a life jacket on the Spaniel?

The spaniel's life jacket says "Aquadog" on the side...and has a handle so convenient I'd like to make it permanent.

Great boat and restoration of same Bob. I particularly like the stow away Leeds reproduction oil anchor lamp and laminated mast. I probably could use something like that myself.

By the way, only the pictures in the first post showed up on my computer. I have a fast DSL line and I waited a long time, so I have no clue as to what the problemk might be.

Bob;
Having owned wooden boats and a love for wood work I can say that that is a thing of beauty. You do fine work and I realy appreciate the attention to the period details.

My highspeed connection had no problem at all loading up the pictures.

Once again Professor Bob you've produced a thing of beauty and given us another memorable lesson! Great work!

Hey, I found out that each time I opened the thrtead, a few more pictures (eventually) appeared. After opening it 7 different times, I can now see all the pictures. They were worth waiting for.

The work and craftsmanship you put into this boat is amazing to me Bob. You must really love what you do.

Bob---If I had a boat that needed fixin', you would be my man. You do wonderful work, tackling problems that would leave most of us, well me anyway, scratching our heads and wondering why and wherefore. Thanks for sharing this.

The fitting-out at the end of a project is always incredibly slow and time-consuming….but that fine detail work has always been my favorite part, whether a restoration like this one, or new work.

When I retire in a few years, I plan to build a similar sized boat. Your efforts have instired me, and you should be very proud.
Thanks for sharing!

Figure 400 hours for the basic boat like I bought from the museum last December:

I estimated 240 hours to build the rig/board and fit her out. Unfortunately, I discovered rot in the frames and bottom and had to replace them....and I'm slightly over 300 hours.

Boats aren't as hard as they look....they are just different. It's a bit of a head game. Jobs that take 3 hours in furniture where all is square, plumb and perfectly symmetrical take 3 days in a boat where none of that is true.

Your post's are like going to the Mystic Seaport without paying the price of admission.
Living in an area rich in maritime history, and seeing the quality of your work, I can tell you that it is as fine as any I've ever seen. I've not seen boats of that quality in some of the museums around here. Absolutely stunning.
If I bring my double 12 and a Chesapeake bay retriever,he doesn't even need the aquavest, can I borrow the boat this fall. I'll even bring the deke's and the beers. :D
Once again, absolutely stunning work.

Our Newf hardly requires a life vest, either.....she is the life vest. ;)

But this is Orca country....there was a pod nearby when the pics were taken...and although the spaniel swims well, we don't want her confused with a seal pup.

Beautiful boat and great description. But isn't the purpose of a boat to keep people dry? Why stand in the water when you can get in the boat and be dry?

At the end of the trip the boat's gotta be put on the trailer, eh? ;)
