deepening purpleheart

I am making a gift box for a friend who specified an accent of purpleheart. I wasn't happy with the color of my stock and suspected it would eventually fade to a dark brown. However, shaping it on a disc sander I saw that a scorched area had turned a purple-black. Here is a sample piece exposed to a heat gun at maximum setting for less than 20 seconds. While it may be garish to some. it sure as heck is purple. Perhaps others using this material will find this info helpful.
