Hi,
More questions about the walnut knife case. I really appreciate the input.
At the bottom of the cabinet there is a horizontal area for the scabbards. 40" long and 4.5" high. I had the idea to hinge the door @ the bottom. (Total cabinet dimension is 40" wide by 24" tall, by 4.5" deep.)
I have the wood for the door, but have not cut it to final dimension yet.
First idea was a pivot drawer-like the glove box in your car. Too complicated.
So, I built the case (with you alls help). Finished last wkd.
I was going to put a brass plated stop piano hinge in there, but the ones I see are too small. Wood thickness is 5/8".
I think stop hinges are the way to go(?)
I like the Butler table hinges, but since the space is closed, mortising them in would be way too much work.
So I have a horizontal hole in the bottom of a horizontal cabinet, with a door to fit.
Is there something easy, attractive, and effective-in brass?

Thank You!
David

This is a flush door. I am going to put in pivot pins in the bottom corners, and some type of sling/band/hinge to limit the opening. Thanks, David
