You will need to determine the settings for your machine, as all of them are different (including other 50W Universals). Start around 100S/30P @ 333dpi and run some tests from there...

GONZALO -
Not so much 'bout "settings" - but, you may find some helpful info on page one - under my post "Losing my Marbles" - 'bout my trying to improve my engraving on black granite. (I have 'tough time getting the photographs bright enough.) Bill Cunningham offered 'lot of terrific advice to me. (ran to Ace Hardware, today - bought the materials he suggested would help me 'n the process.) Otherwise - regarding settings, Dan pretty much summed it up.

To add a bit to what Dan said, If your using 333 dpi, make sure your image is also 333 dpi, don't mix them.. I'm not that familiar with universal machines, but if it etches at 333 , then use that, or multiples of it. 333, 666, or 1332 .. Most other machines will etch at 300, 600, 1200 dpi, so your image must be sampled at 300 and can be etched at 600 or 1200 dpi If you mix em up you may get banding, or image moire

Gonzalo,
This might provide you another starting point on your settings. I used the following setting on my 25Watt VLS 2.30: Power 28.8, Speed 50, PPI 500. For you to about the same beam power use 57.6power and start at 60 speed then dial it down. I would post the picture, but I am having computer issues. I'll try on another one later today.

Lee,
Yeah you are right I did my math wrong. Thank you for the correction.
