I have two. They have both been around a while and I don't know if they are available.

The best one is "The Band Saw Book", by R. J. DeChristoforo. It is very complete, covering all operations.

The other is a small book, Put out by Rockwell (Delta), titled "Getting the Most out of Your Bandsaw".

My favorite is Lonnie Bird's "The Bandsaw Book," avaolable on Amazon for $13.97.

Dick,

When I got my bandsaw, I went to the library and took out Mark Duginske's Bandsaw Handbook. It's an older book, but it has lots of good information on using a bandsaw. He also has a video on the bandsaw (available from Taunton) that I have not seen, but if it's like his other videos it's probably very good.

Being an old "shop" teacher and reading your statement that this is your first bandsaw, let give you a couple of safety tips.
Never stand (or have friends watch you cut on the saw) at right angles to the blade. If a blade is going to break, it will sometimes come around the top wheel and down to the table, where it will hit and come out like a snake at right angle to the front.
Other time it may wrap itself around one wheel.
I have seen both, many times.

If you hear the blade "clicking" - stop the saw and inspect the blade for stress cracks - it's going to break!
A blade is like a piece of metal that is bent "back and forth" (around the wheels). Of course when you bend metal back and forth, it will eventually break.
Well that's enough preaching. Best of luck with your new bandsaw and may it give you may years of pleasure.

Dick -

I have two recommendations. Either one would be OK by itself.<table width="95%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4">
