I received an email today about a new Sketchup module called EasySketch. This is aimed at designing kitchens very easily and it looks pretty interesting. It is going to be in beta testing soon and you can sign up to be a beta tester for free.

I downloaded sketchup maker, the free one. With that edition can I design decks and break it down to joists, railing, etc? I only see I can make boxes. Or to get that precise to I have to buy the pro edition? I'd also like to design a vanity before I build it a break it down by each cabinet piece and molding size. Will I be able to do that in maker?

You can do all that in Make free edition. If you can, get the FWW DVD by Dave Richards, "Sketchup for Woodworkers- The Basics". One of the tutorials is building a cabinet exactly as you describe. Understand about creating and saving components and you'll be off and running on your deck project.
