The vacuum chuck worked great. The problem is that it worked so well that the HF is now wedged in the chuck and I have been unable to remove it thus far. I will sacrifice the PVC piece by cutting it if it comes to that, but would prefer to find another option. This has happened before, but I have always succeeded at the removal. Ugh.

Any sage advice?

Make some provision to catch the piece, and put your compressed air blow gun to work on the other end of the spindle.

Thinking the same thing as Dale... compressed air. Good luck!

Yeah, I had thought of the compressed air thing prior to asking for ideas. I figured there was no way I would be able to control the back pressure to the extent that it would have an effect on the HF.

Lesson of the day - Never dismiss an idea.

Three strips of duct tape did the trick. Thanks for forcing my hand, guys!

I would have left in on the spindle and use a rag around the nozzle.
