Hello I acquired a plane yesterday, cleaned it up with lemon juice.
Beside using electrolysis, it's my favorite to use for rust removing.

Block plane's,
since there are so many different one's made, wondering if this plane is
a Stanley #65 1/2.
Date on the lever cap reads
Pat 2-18-13

I'd guess it's a 65 with the wrong cutter and a nickle knob, or a 65 1/2 with the wrong cap. Only 1/8" difference between the two. Leach says the 65 1/2 has the normal cap, not the toggle. Nice little plane.

How do you clean the juice off your planes after the soak?

Soap and very hot water, drys faster then, minimizing re-rusting.
Brake cleaner if I want to re-paint, was out of that at the time.

Thanks for the reply

Here is a site that will tell you the difference:

The 65 only had a wider blade until 1909. (according to Patrick Leach)

I have both a #65 and a #65-1/2. They are both very useful and capable planes.
