Was just browsing through Ebay and noticed that there's some dude who carves old transitional planes and sells them for a ridiculous amount of cash. Have you guys seen this? The carving is impressive, but man, look at that price.

I wouldnt buy a tool that expensive - not even a tablesaw or workbench. But he doesnt seem to be out of the ballpark for tools that are made to look spectacular. Go price a hand made infill plane from one of the boutique manufacturers.

I'll be watching that item to see whether it sells and how much it brings.

Well it is beautiful and impressive work. There is no way I would buy it. I'm afraid that its dilletante appearance would get it picked on in my shop. I could see a couple of the workhorse Stanleys roughing it up...
