Grizzly planer setup

To set up my new g0453 planer I need to put the machine in neutral. I have turned it on and tried several times to move the handle to the middle position but when I turn the machine off and try to move the infeed roller by hand it will not move. I assume that means it is still in gear. Is there some trick to this?

I'm not sure there is a neutral position... at least not on my grizzly planer. Jess

How do you rotate the infeed and outfeed rollers then to get bdc?. My are locked up since the machine is in gear.

Remove the belt cover and turn the pulley by hand.
