Any ideas for a mobile base for the pm 2013 band saw just under 1000 lbs? or do I need to have one made.

I have a large Felder bandsaw and I bolted Leveling Casters like this to the base in existing holes. Very stable, once in place you lower rubber feet from the center of the caster. Here is an example pic.

Doesn't Powermatic have one? I believe they have one for their jointer.

I thought of doing that but didnt want to raise the machine to much. do you know where I can get them on line? how much does your machine weigh?

In my opinion the best mobile bases are the semi-live type.

They have wheels at one end that only raise the machine about 1/4" off the floor and two threaded levelling feet on the other end of the machine.

A tow bar handle is used to lift and pull/steer the machine around.

They work exceptionally well which is why you see them on many Euro machines ranging from 600 to 2,000 pounds.

The above video at about 1 minute will show a typical example.

I use this method on all my larger machines............Rod.

I have been very happy with the Jet HD mobile base http://www.cpojettools.com/jet-708119-jmb-umb-hd-industrial-duty-universal-mobile-base/jetn708119,default,pd.html?cgid=jet-mobile-bases-and-stands I have these on my table saw and my jointer/planer machines. They are very stable and you don't have to lift the machine to move it, just lock and unlock the wheels. It only raises the machine about ½ inch above the floor.

I have this saw and a similar mobile base as the jet one referenced above. The saw weighs about 1,000# and makes the base sag and drag on the ground.

It says it will handle up to 1200 lbs but it does not look like it will. how much do the machines you have weigh?

The Jet base is not built like the flimsy Shop Fox base that Grizzly sells or the HTC base. I have an HTC 3000, which is supposed to handle 700 lbs, that I had on my old Delta tablesaw. I tried to use it on my Baileigh Jointer/planer but IMHO it's a POS for anything over about 300 lbs. There isn't any way it would hold up under my Baileigh, which weighs over 600 lbs and I replaced it as soon as I could get the Jet base delivered. The Jet base isn't phased by my Baileigh and handles it like it's no bother. I don't see why it wouldn't handle 1000 lbs without any problems.

Measure your base and see if Delta or another manufacture, (HTC, etc.) makes one that will fit. I have a Delta under my MM16.

I have a Minimax mobility kit adapted to my Grizzly. I had to "fabricate" the hitch part which is just a piece of 4x6 angle, and drill a couple holes. I love it because its stable when the machine is in use and easy to use when I need it mobile.
