Laserkerf installed on a Hitachi C10FS?

I was interested to read on this site Bill Esposito's review of Laserkerf, an attachment that makes a laser line to guide chop saws. I called the manufacturer to see if it would fit my Hitachi C10FS. Although the web site has photos of a Laserkerf mounted on a C10FS, it also gives the dimensions of the laser head, and according to my measurements on my saw, the head won't fit where the photos show it fitting. The specs on the head say it is 2 1/4" long, but there is only 1 7/8" available. The manufacturer doesn't have one of these saws immediately available to doublecheck their installation. They're looking for one now, but at the same time I thought I'd ask the group whether anybody has installed one of these devices on a Hitachi C10FS. Did it mount without getting crunched at the end of each saw stroke?
