I need a little help with a search for a small lathe. Mainly for small wooden knobs and pulls. I've looked over several but haven't run across a small wood lathe that has a cross slide/carriage. Many out there for metal, but I'm not sure about turning wood on a metal lathe.

Only looking for about 12" between centers and a 3" swing will be plenty. The manual carriage will just make it easier for me to get consistency. Anyone have a recommendation?

I've got an Oliver #51 for anything else I might need :D

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Johnny

The Sherline lathe can be used on both wood and metal. The Taig lathe can also be used on both .The Woodwrite lathe that was sold with a power feed for pen making is a Taig lathe that was rebranded.I use a Sherline lathe with the carbide cutters and hss cutters on corian and deer antler to make pens.Check out ebay for used Sherline lathes.
