We are changing the way we have been offering DVD's of our file attachments to those of you who are interested in purchasing the discs. In the past we offered DVD sets that included file attachments from every forum, starting today we will only offer DVD's from each individual forum. The reason for the change is that I have finally accepted the fact that the majority here are only interested in only one discipline therefore it seems prudent to provide our file attachment archive DVD's that only include the information from individual forums.

It takes me many hours over several evenings just to review all of the pictures and remove those that are copy protected and as many duplicates as I can find. Because of the length of time required to review the files I have decided to make the new DVD's available one forum at a time when my review of each forum is complete. The Engravers Forum is the first one that is ready, the new DVD's are now available.

The new DVD contains every file attachment since the Engravers Forum was created through and including 2013. There are a total of 13,857 files of which there are 2,224 Corel Draw drawings, the remaining are mostly pictures, PDF's, DWG/DXF, and other assorted graphics. The files are stored in folders identified by the year they were uploaded. Each filename includes the name of the owner, this is to provide you with the necessary means of contacting the owner to acquire permission should you want to use their work for commercial purposes.

To purchase the DVD use the Donate link on the blue menu to go to PayPal. Our PayPal address is (sales@northwindassociates.com) and make sure you enter in the description that you want to purchase the Engravers Forum DVD. Please provide your shipping address as well.

The cost is $12.00 which includes free shipping in the continental United States.

If you prefer to order the DVD via personal or company check the address is available via the Donate link.

All funds collected will be used to support our costs associated with running SawMill Creek.

David,

Enjoy!
You will see pictures and drawings that you missed in this Forum. It's impossible to view every thread, even for me but you can easily go through the pictures on your local machine. The drawings will take some time to view.

Note:
All of the Engravers Forum DVD's that have been ordered have been shipped except two, they will both be in the mail tomorrow morning.

Hi Keith,

I would like to order the $12.00 Engravers Forum DVD but when I click on the Donate link in the blue menu it only gives me set choices with pre-determined amounts. Example: Annual Contribution, Monthly recurring contribution, Friends of the Creek, etc. Should I just send you the $12.00 through PayPal directly, or is there something I'm missing when clicking onthe Donate Link?

Thank you,
Don

Don,

We haven't setup a direct link to the engravers forum DVD so you have to edit the transaction and put 12.00 and the Engravers Forum DVD in the description. Lately the disconnect between Aaron Koehl and myself has made it difficult for us to get a lot of things corrected here. My health problems have had me on the sidelines for weeks now and Jackie and Aaron have had to take care of all my work here but we are finally getting things moving again.

Joseph,

Send a Private Message to Jackie Outten and ask her to provide you with the shipping costs to send a DVD to your address. She will respond ASAP.

Using Google Drive or Dropbox would still require an upload and most of our DVD's would require excessive upload time.

Keith Outten

Requests to purchase the Engravers Forum DVD's has been near non-existent for a couple of years. Because of this we didn't extract the file attachments for 2015 this year, it takes some time to do this and for me to view every attachment to make sure that they are suitable to add to our DVD's.

Recently I had one person purchase the DVD's and because it will take some time to add the 2015 update I did a refund. I would be glad to add 2015 to the DVD if we have enough people interested, its a huge time consuming task but worth the effort if enough people re interested. Honestly I have never had anyone complain about the value of the Engravers DVD when they received it, besides all of the pictures there are lots of Corel Draw files, PDF's, and other vector graphics that make it a great asset.

I won't say that this won't happen, even if it only for my own personal use. Because its so late in the year I had planned to have Aaron extract 2015 in January when he does the 2016 file attachments.

Hi Keith

Keith Outten
11-07-2017, 4:21 PM
John,

Everything on the CDs/DVDs and now thumbdrives is in our forums spread out over 2.6 million posts. The reason I produce the files on media I can ship is because there is literally tens of thousands of file attachments. A few years ago I calculated that if you looked at a picture every five seconds it would take you more than three months to see them all, of course that was all file attachments from every forum.

I just purchased several thumbdrives so I can start copying file attachments for each forum, once the update is done I will post the numbers of file attachments per forum and share the information. The last two years we have added over 50,000 attachments.

Keith Outten
11-15-2017, 11:06 AM
I stopped shipping DVD's a couple years ago however I am planning to offer our file attachments once again in just a couple of weeks....this time on thumb drives.
Yes, we will ship to Canada and other countries but we will have to confirm the shipping prices on request. For the lower 48 states we will charge an average fee for shipping.

Here is the link to the latest thread (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?259361-Our-Laser-Forum-has-18-157-File-attachments-through-2016) on this topic.

There are now 18,157 file attachments in the Laser Engravers Forum, 1.64 gigabytes not including 2017 which we will add to our totals in January.

Brand new member here so I'm still only dipping my toes. Last post here is from 2017 but I'll ask anyway. Are the DVD's or thumb drives still available for the Laser engraving forum? Would love to buy that! I'm in Henry, Virginia btw. Cheers.

Keith Outten
07-23-2019, 12:32 PM
Martin,

Sorry, I stopped offering the file attachment thumb drives because there just wasn't enough people who wanted them to make it worth the time. I am still downloading the files and keeping my master list updated but I have not spent the time to review the 2018 files, I may never get it done.

The file attachments in our archives were over 25 gigabytes at the end of 2017. I have no idea how much it will grow when I add the attachments from 2019 the first week of January. I have been using the 2018 files for my own personal use over the last couple of weeks, mostly looking for Hall of Fame projects.

Let me correct myself, I have reviewed both the Laser and CNC files. I look at them first since I have personal interest in both these forums.

Martin Portelli
07-24-2019, 1:10 PM
Thanks for getting back to me. The amount of work that must entail with that whole project has to be insane and I can understand why you stopped. As I mentioned earlier, I'm new to this forum and a little overwhelmed with the knowledge base in here. I find myself reading posts and many times getting stumped on what exactly everyone is talking about. But that's ok. I've been engraving with my trusty Gravograph M20 Jewel for almost 10 years now. I bought my laser about two months ago and have been steadily switching from the M20 to the laser. I mostly engrave/Mark jewelry. Rings to be more specific. My question is, where can I find tutorials in regards to using a laser for jewelry? Does it even exist?

Chris DeGerolamo

Martin, Youtube may be a good resource to see machines in action. Same with Facebook and other socials. What I have found is many folks use differing means to get the same ends. By watching machine movements, times, loops/passes, you can get a really good idea of what settings to apply to different jobs. Keep reading, it'll stick sooner rather than later. :)

Keith Outten
07-25-2019, 11:05 AM
Martin,

Don't feel bad, there are some very advanced laser operators here and I admit that there are times when I have problems following some of their discussions. Like you I have to read the posts several times and often take some time to think about the techniques I see here. The light bulb will often come on but when it doesn't I simply jump back in the thread and ask for clarification. Even so I have been stumped more times than I like to admit :)

Keith Outten

There is always a possibility that I will resume offering file attachments so keep your eyes open.

Martin Portelli
07-25-2019, 5:02 PM
Thanks Keith. I didn't even think about Facebook. Trying to join a couple of groups right now. I might ask a couple of questions in the "Laser Engraving General Topics" thread...unless you think I should post elsewhere? It's to do with engraving the whole inside of a ring with a heartbeat (EKG) Vector. My end result is a jumbled mess.

If at least a dozen people want to order the Laser Form file attachments I will take the time to review them and get the files ready to copy. They would be shipped on thumb drives so I would need to get a current price before I can give you an exact cost. I have to review both 2017, 2018 and 2019 to complete the current file list. The 2020 file extraction will be done the first week of January 2021.

Just finished going through last years file attachments, the pic above is the current status for 2003 though 2020.
Here is the folder list.

449264

I shared a pic of the file listing in an earlier post.
Note that in most of the older folders you will find some real treasures. In the past a lot of people here shared project files and drawings, the last few years most of the attachments are hardware/problem related pics. One of these years if I live long enough I intend to extract all of the drawings, PDF's and other vector files from every folder.

If there is no charge for the files why not put them up on DropBox (or other cloud storage service)? You could password protect the file in order to maintain control of who gets to use it, and you could remove the file at anytime.

Ron Selzer, I will check out your link. I am swamped today but I will check it out tonight.

Will DropBox allow a file over 20 gig?

I just checked and the basic free account only gives you 2GB of storage.

They have a promo that provides an extra 25GB of free storage for the first year but they charge to keep it after that.

Rich Harman
01-14-2021, 8:16 PM
Rich Harman, will DropBox allow a file over 20 gig?

The max size for a single file is 50 GB, of course you need to have an account that supports that much space, the free accounts are limited to 2GB.

I have 5GB available that you are welcome to use if needed, the post you made a couple days ago indicated that the files totaled 2.05GB in size.

Dropbox offers extra space to new accounts via referrals. I Believe it is an extra 500 MB for both the new user and the person providing the referral.

You could use my referral link to gain the extra space necessary for the 2.05 GB of files.

http://db.tt/h8GvjqO3 I fully expect this link to be removed, I don't think that I qualify for the extra space anymore (I've maxed out) but it should still work for the new user.
