I am trying to find a source for replacement bearings for my pm90. The local motion industries has no clue, Do you know of a source for replacement bearings for this machine, . The bearing numbers on the out board side on my machine are MRC 208FFS and on the inboard side FAFNIR with BRG and USA marked on it. I notice in the manual that the bearing part numbers are 90-105 for the outboard bearing and 90-103 for the inboard bearing. I have also seen FAFNIR 207 KLL LISTED FOR THE INBOARD BEARING. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED. THANKS

Bill:

Go to http://www.owwm.org/

This is the old woodworking machines website and search under model PM#90 bearings. There is a bunch of guys that have replaced the bearings on a PM #90.

The Fafnir can be found new on ebay too.

I'm seeing online that the replacement for the MRC is an 88508 bearing.

88508 sounds familar , I'll check my Yates American inboard bearing when I get outside to see if it's the same, I got a german made FAG replacement a few years ago from Accurate Bearing.
MRC 208FFS dimensions should be ID 40mm OD 80mm Width 27mm
88508 is a deep groove bearing used in the automotive world.
Someone on ebay even has NOS NDH 88508 (New Departure).
They're out their just need to track them down.

The PM90 spindle for all years takes an 88507 and 88508 bearing available through Accurate Bearing Co.

When I replaced the spindle bearings on one of my PM 90's I found out the hard way that I ordered the wrong bearing for the movable pulley. The 1982 Powermatic 90 manual lists this as part #6060075, BALL BEARING, MRC NO. 208FFS. I went to the Accurate Bearing site and didn't get any results for "208FFS" but got multiple results for "208" including 5208, 6208, 63208, 7208, 87508, and 88508. Since my machine is a 1982, I went to the 1982 parts list and found part #6060075 is listed as BEARING, 6208ZZ so thats what I ordered. The problem is the parts list is wrong. The 6208 bearing is only .7087 in wide and should be 1.063 in wide. The correct bearing is 88508. When I installed the narrower bearing, the movable pulley rubbed against the headstock which would also throw off the allignment. I also checked the 2003 price list and found that PM corrected the error. It shows part #6060075 is a FAFNIR 208KRR2. This bearing is still available and has the same dimensions as the 88508.

The interchange number for a Fafnir 207KLL is 88507 (Direct from Accurate Bearings interchange catalog)

Accurate bearing should be able to get either (1-800-323-6548 ask for lynn) . Just be sure to have all the measurements and original bearing numbers on hand. Lynn helps out those into the older machines , Accurate does make money from us so we are lucky she takes the time to help us out. If she is not in you should be able to get help from someone else there just tell them you are one of Lynn's wood workers from OWWM.

If you measure the MRC it should measure 40mm bore. 80mm OD .827" at it's narrowest width and 1.063" for the thickest width (extended race) . 88508 is 208KLL in a Fafnir bearing.

Looks like I am too late to chime in, but I have bought bearings for a number of machines at NAPA auto parts - most in the $15 to $20 range. Most of the bearings used on our woodworking equipment are standard sizes (from my experience that is), and the auto parts stores seem to stock a solid variety. Next time, it might be worth a trip to the auto parts store.
