Hello all!

Let me introduce myself. My name's Adam Howard, and I've been woodworking for about four years. I've only been serious about it for the past two.

I'm an avid turner, but I also make some furniture, boxes, etc. I'll post some pics once I learn how.

Some of you probably know me from the WWA forum, another good place.

I noticed that there's a dedicated turning forum here, and I think thats going to be fun.

HOWDY!!!

Beautiful work Adam!!! You pics are great - just right size actually (we don't have to scroll the page)

Thanks for the compliments!

Those were some pieces I did a little while back.

On the box, it was pommele sapele. The frame/panel and legs are wenge. For the top panel, 1/4" wenge is laminated with a very thin piece of matching sapele veneer that was cut from the same timber as the sides. The reinforcing pins in the legs are sterling silver. As a finish, I used a spit coat shellac then a poly/blo/tung oil blend.

Sapele is now one of my favorites! It even smells nice. Too bad it costs so much.

Welcome to the Creek Adam, and thanks for the pics. It's a shame you can't find any nice looking wood where you live. ;)

I love the pommele sapele. I'll have to try to find some of that. I also like the way you did the legs on the box. Nice work!

"Newbie", huh??? Yeah. Right. Obviously, you're just a "newbie" to SMC. Your WW skills are top notch and NOT those of a "newbie"! Beautiful work, Adam and thanks much for the pics. You'll fit right in here at the good 'ole Creek!:) BTW, wonderful choices of wood and design. Well done!:)

Lou,

Right now I'm finishing up some cutting boards, a new pen design, and a run of bowls.

Later in the week I'm starting some walnut side tables.
