This piece was turned from an irregular shaped piece left over from an Ash Burl that was in my shop for a couple of years. It had a small amount of Burl figure in it and I was not sure how to use it. The center portion containing the burl figure was cored out with the cored piece being used in the lid as well as on top of the handle. Walnut was also used on the lid rim and handle. The piece was dyed using multiple colors and finished with Wipe-On-Poly. The base measures 16" X 11.5" tapering down to 6" and it is 4" high at the top of the handle. Some of you may have seen this on other forums. C&C are welcome.

Marc, very nice use of " left overs ". I like the use of the dyes , they give it a classic look and the handle is " spot on ".

My personal test... "Would I buy this?"

A resounding 'yes'!

Marc,

That's simply amazing. I don't know what to say about it. The wood is beautiful. The bowl part of it is beautiful. The finish is simply unbelievable..... and most of all the lid is perfect. Like I said "simply amazing"....

The color is a little dark for my taste but the wood, the design and the finish are out of this world good. Overall it is just WOW!!

An heirloom for sure--the color is a very expensive merlot.
