I've been building a Gamble-style king-size bed. For those interested, I've been keeping a blog that shows the progress. (I posted a link once before in some thread or other, but it would be impossible to find unless you stumbled on it by accident.)

Today we applied the first coat of finish to the headboard. We still need to finish constructing the footboard (we're about halfway). But we're happy with how the headboard has come out. The pics I took today were outside, so the lighting is a bit harsh; I'll take some indoor pics with better lighting down the road.

Like most of my projects, this one has taken a lot longer than I expected. But that's OK. I needed something to do this year anyway!

Here's the blog:

Thanks for looking. I hope we'll have the footboard done in another 6-8 weeks. (We're only able to get in about eight to ten hours per week lately.)

Thanks, Jim and Brian! We're looking forward to getting rid of the stupid metal frame that came with the mattresses!
