wood blanks

Good morning all as I am starting out I am wondering if itis possible to buy solid wood blanks 3mm to 5 mm thick round and oval formaking jewellery I am open to any wood type that is easy to engrave or ifanyone has suggestions as to where I can buy 3mm to 5 mm wood to cut

You don't show where you are located. Any chance you have some fine furniture or cabinet makers in the area? Their castoffs can make be a great source of thing for pieces. My friend and I used to grab stuff from local furniture shops to use for accents and small shops. In most cases they were happy to be rid of it since it was of no use to them and they had to pay by weight to haul it off.
