A yellow tag on the Revo clamp rack caught my eye yesterday and I took a closer look. My local Lowes has the 24", 40" and 50" Bessey K-body REVO clamps on clearance. I've been eyeing these clamps at Woodcraft since the woodworking bug got me and because of price have held back. Even when they run them 15% off I have held off. It never occurred to me to check Lowes or other big box stores. So to my surprise what was already a better price at Lowes (than Woodcraft, Rockler or Amazon) is now about 10% cheaper.

24" clamps - Lowes $35.08, Woodcraft $48.99, Amazon $43.18 (based on 1/2 of the 2 pack)
40" clamps - Lowes $38.41, Woodcraft $57.99, Amazon $59.59 (based on 1/2 of the 2 pack)
50" clamps - Lowes $43.72, Woodcraft $62.20, Amazon $67.70 (based on 1/2 of the 2 pack)

As I'm just starting my clamp collection I'm stocking up while supply lasts! Now all I need to do is figure what is the most useful # of each size to have….

BTW I have no financial connection to Lowes other than the number of times my credit card slides through through their reader at the register.

You can buy 10% off coupons on ebay for a couple dollars, and I just bought a $200 gift card there for $180. You can get a few more clamps that way.

Tip: Go to the post office, get a change of address pack they are stuffed with gobs of coupons and I always find a 10% off Lowes coupon in there.

The prices on clearance items at Lowes usually vary by store. My local store was exactly the same on the 50", $1 more on the 40", and $4 less on the 24". The "deal" was on the 24" Duoklamps for $15 and change.

As far as the "right" number of each size, you might just want to start with 10 of each size and see if you have enough.:D

If you go to the slickdeals site and search for Lowes coupons, they have a way to generate coupon codes for the 10% off for free. Order online for store pickup and apply the code.

I just bought 5 of the Revos at Lowes the other day. They were only clearancing the 40" and 50" sizes. They also had clearance prices on the really long F-style clamps. The Revo prices were a bit different here -- the 40" were $38.41.and the 50" were $42.55. I talked to the guy in the tool department and said I'd buy all 5 they had in stock if they gave me more discount. He could only go another 10%, and the store manager would not go higher, but I took that gladly, I was just trying to see how deep they'd discount. I got 3 of the 40" for $34.57 each, and 2 of the 50" for $38.29 each.

There are 2 more Lowe's in 2 neighboring towns, but I am not sure I want to save any more money right now ... :D

I just checked my local store online and they are not on clearance as of yet?

These would be clearanced at each store individually. They would not show that price online and each store is selling off the items according to their previous sales of the item. They will likely continue online at the "normal" price, they just won't restock any clearanced item in that particular store.

And I agree with Lee that saving money can be expensive.:D

I am heading by Lowes after work so I will take a look while I am there.

Get the lowes credit card and get another 5% off all the time... just remember to pay it off immediately to prevent finance charges...

40" for $35.18 (20%off) thru 5/30

Wasn't showing that earlier when I posted so I played around a bit on their site. When I identified my store as the one I was looking at earlier, they weren't on sale online at all. When I identified the one closest to my house, they were closer to the prices you saw above, $31.18 & $39.58. I looked around at other stores I found different pricing.

It looks like if they identify the pricing as "20% off" they will be close to the same price as the difference between $31.18 and $31.98 was the largest one I noticed WHEN THEY WERE IDENTIFYING THEM AS 20% OFF and most were the same.

If they show the ones you want at 10% off or normal price, check the other local stores.....

When i checked my store online they were full price but when I went into the store this evening ALL Bessey products were on clearance. I have to go back and pick up some of the clamps before they are all gone.

I am big fan of cardpool.com; a discount gift card website. Right now Lowe's is 9 percent off and Home Depot is ten. If you are spending a couple of hundred bucks it is worth the hassle. Gonna buy a new Honda mower in a couple of weeks and this site will save me ten board feet of rough sawn cherry.

Thanks for the tip. Picked up a few, all for under $40 each.

In case no one has already mentioned it, veterans get 10% off at Lowe's. All I had to do was show my driver's license but I understand they plan to make it a little more complicated. I don't know if that discount can be combined with others.

I'm actually upset with the original poster because I felt obligated to go check it out at my store and ended up walking out with 2 40" clamps when I really wanted the 24" because they were the same price. Thanks a lot.

Sometimes, simply asking for a discount will get you a discount.

I just picked up 3 50" at my lowes. The cashier dropped one and one of the plastic feet broke off. His manager gave it to me for $19.50! Woot woot!

Mahalo for this alert. I just bought 6 clamps and got an additional 10% veteran discount by just asking about it.

I like the Bessey clamps but just because they're on sale still doesn't make it a great deal. $40 is still a lot for a clamp. I wonder if they're discontinuing them or are just on sale? The best deal I got was many years ago on the non-Revo ones, $99 for a cabinet set of two 24" and two 40" plus the blocks. I guess that won't come around again.

btw, The parallel clamps in Lowe's are "assembled in the USA from Chinese parts" or something like that according to the packaging. The Tradesmans still say "made in Germany".

I was in Lowes today talking to the tool manager about asking how much longer the clamps were going to be on sale. His reply was for a while and that at some point they would further mark them down. So I decided to wait a little while longer before purchasing. I was under the impression after talking to him that they might be discontinuing all the Bessey products. That is speculation on my part....

Wouldn't surprise me. Seems like they are stocking more and more junk all the time and less decent items. Maybe a good thing in the long run. Might start using the local stores more!

Just before father's day, our local Lowes ran the best deal on what was left of Bessey close outs. I picked up 12 of the little 2 x 4 Minis (yes - the made in Germany stamped) for $1.60 each! Those guys are small, but mighty useful. I also picked up what was left of their Bessey 3/4 pipe clamps for $5.48 each. Also had 6" heavy Bessey C Clamps (for what they're worth - China) blowing out at about $3.00 each. It actually spurred me back into the clamp hunting mode for deals for the 1st time in 20 years.

LIL.

Lowes is closing out Bessy to go to Irwin. Home Depot is closing out Irwin to go to Bessy. I picked up some Bessy spring and pricture frame clamps from Lowes then picked up some 24" Irwin parallel clamps at HD.

I bought the Bessey 5" Multi Purpose Vise for $50 today. I love the rotating jaws.

I went to my local Lowe's, and they had no Bessey clamps left. So I went to Home Depot, and they had all their Irwin stock on clearance. It seemed that everything was about half price, at least it was half of the published list price. I bought 24 inch Quick Grips (524QCN) for $14 even. Also they had a lot of inventory. Almost as if they had stocked up for this clearance.

I'd picked up the rotating Bessey vacuum vise for $7.48. Compare to Home Cheapo's "just in" price of $29!
