View Full Version : Dust Deputy Question

Recently bought the Oneida Dust Deputy - the one with the 20 gallon steel drum - and have connected it into my home's central vacuum cleaner system. So far, I'm real thrilled with it. Separating the lid from the drum, however, is a real PITA because it uses the circular clamp ring around the circumfrence to squeeze the lid and the drum together. Seems to me that three or four of the typical over-center draw latches spaced around the circumfrence would make emptying the drum much, much easier. Has anyone here found a good draw latch to retro-fit to their DD?

Also, anyone found a novel method to keep a plastic dust bag in position in the drum?

Thanks.

John

The clamp is not a big deal. You just undo it, lower it down, and clamp it again. Probably easier than the draw catches on my Grizzly cyclone.
Securing a plastic bag in a cyclone bin is more trouble than it is worth. A large plastic sheet around the sides of the bag will work, but isn't any fun to get in or out.

Gotta agree with Wade on this one. Having done individual latches on pressure pots, (where you need them), I think the band is significantly easier.

just my opinion though….

So, I reading zero help on the ring as it seems to be preferred. Like you, however, I find the draw catches on my Grizzly much easier than the band on my Delta. I assume this is just one of those things where some people can spin a basketball on their finger but, can't juggle while others of us can juggle with ease but the basketball trick eludes us. Folks is different.
