Not quite right fit, but is real woodworking. Piece below was chipped out of a tear from a cherry tree limb that partially blew down. A friend dropped it off for me to "Make Something". It laid around for months then the idea of a relief carving came to mind. Rough dimensions> 22" tall x 28" wide and 8" deep. No pith in this piece and it acme from some thirty feet up the tree. Trunk at waist height was over 5 1/2 feet. Thought the wood would inspire.

Very well executed piece, especially with the tie in of the figure's hair and the natural wood grain along the original tear to the right. That makes the carving seem to grow from the natural material, rather than sit on top of it. Wonderful!
