Is there such a thing as a high quality, 110v 3 way lamp socket?

I seem to burn one out every couple years. The last one went with flames and sparks anda foul stench.

Outside of the safety and convenience issues the standard socketsare just so cheap.

I have a buddy who buys old lamps to get good sockets. Hoping for an easier method.

Thanks,
Tom

I bought one a solid brass one like this a few years ago, not cheap but holding up so far (top of page):

I doubt you will find one at any of the BIG box stores. They all carry the same Leviton crap. You have to wonder besides the bottom line if they are made as cheaply just to perpetuate revenue.

Here is the old one. It had been at least six months in used. Sunday night I turned it on and it shot sparks and flames out the top. Make a horrible smell. Burned out both contacts. Burned a hole in the side and left melted metal.
