I recently purchased a nice shiny new LN 062. I have used it over the past couple of weeks to fine effect, but now have patches of sap-like residue stuck to the sole. As a newbie in this world, not quite sure best way to remove it? Also wondering if I should have applied a thin coat of paste wax to impede the residue. And if so, is there anything better than past wax, ie, something that won't impact finish stage. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks, tony.

mineral spirits. turpentine. naptha. alcohol. methyl ethyl ketone.

It's metal......solvents won't hurt it.

I just use paraffin wax on my plane soles....candle wax.

Tony, Boesheild makes a spray bottle of "bit and blade resin and pitch remover". Costs about $10 where they sell it. Then use paraffin wax on the sole. You can get that at a store that sells canning supplies. About $3.
