Copper Beech Plate. When the largest Copper Beech in Connecticut finally died, some of the wood was turned over to local crafters. This if the first and smallest piece I received. Around 7" (18 cm) across. Finished with oil and polyurethane. This piece will end up in a charity auction in Shelton.

Never heard of copper beech before, but it sure is Purdy!

Thanks everyone. I had never heard of Copper Beech before I got this, then I checked the state register of significant trees, and many of the largest trees in each town are Copper Beech.

People sometimes refer to certain cultivars of European beech (Fagus sylvatica) as copper beech due to the leaf color. I like the beautiful colors in that form.
