Does anyone have any examples of furniture made with Tupelo wood (also known as Black Gum)? A friend of mine asked me to make a table out of tupelo wood. He wants that specifically because his dog's name is Tupelo and he thought it would be cool to use that wood. I am not real familiar with furniture made of it. According to my research, it looks like it is most commonly used for carving, pallets, secondary wood in cabinets, etc. I was thinking that maybe if it wasn't attractive enough, I could make a federal style table out of mahogany or walnut with Tupelo inlay (to accomplish the goal of using the wood). Any thoughts or pieces that you have made out of it? Thanks for your help.
