I was asked to participate in a show titled "Considering the Kylix."
A kylix is an ancient Greek drinking cup, with handles used for sharing at a "drinking party." They often had a "special" design on the bottom of the inside that would be revealed when the cup was empty. (see additional photo)
This is my interpretation. 5 x 8 x 10 Sycamore / Walnut
Ancient Greek designers often put intentional flaws in their work because they felt only the gods could achieve perfection. The knot in this piece is my homage to that philosophy.
