Winter sucks and Phil saw his shadow. Time to kill the messenger. Ohio prosecutor Mike Gmoser swore out a warrant to have him extradited for execution last year. Think it's time to fulfill the warrant.

This has been a rough season for sure.... I haven't seen weather like this since I left New England 14 years ago. At least there we had some expectation of cold, wet, icy weather. Actually our foe this season has been the wind. 25mph winds can empty a farm field of snow right on to every road and highway in a hurry. Then -16* temps turn it to ice and driver shenanigans ensue...

I never really understood the whole six weeks/early Spring thing.

To me, it all seems one in the same.

Actually, quite a few times we've gotten pounded seven or eight weeks after Feb 2nd - despite what the rodent saw or did.

This weather is not that unusual it is just the 30 year cycle we have not even had the winds we did back in the 70's

The groundhog thing is interpreted differently than it was hundreds of years ago. The Candlemass day was the END of winter ,the local beast made it official or predicted a SECOND winter. The system popular now makes no sense as the extremes of hot and cold do not occur toward the middle of the seasons. The whole point of seasons is agriculture,not astronomy.

I could not find our recipe, so I'd just recommend doing a Google search for "groundhog recipe". Found several that look pretty good! And you cannot go wrong with substituting groundhog into your favorite chili recipe.
