Has anyone tried to remove theirs yet? Easy or hard to do? Roughly how much does it weigh? I've got a new 1221VS arriving in a week or two, and I'm wondering if I remove everything from the base whether it would be light enough that I could move it around and mount it myself.

Not sure what the 1221 weighs, but when I bought my 1220 several years ago it was light enough (~90#) that UPS delivered it rather than it being a freight delivery. Two people can easily carry the entire machine, or one reasonably strong person if they are careful. I have moved mine several times by myself. I would not recommend removing the headstock, just the tailstock and banjo, though even that was not needed on the 1220. The new casting is a bit heavier, Packard lists it at 121 ibs.

No need to remove the headstock to handle your 1221. I recently purchased one and was able to move it by myself and set it on the stand that I made for it. By the way, I'm 70 and you look much younger in your photo.
