Hi, all -

Anyone seen a little cabinet like this before? It's diminuitive - about 14" x 10" x 5". I'm curious about what the original use of such a small little cabinet may've been. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Scott

The stains left by what was stored on the shelves in the past may be your best clue.

It may have been a liquor cabinet.

It carries some extra decoration on the front with the faux hinge straps.

It also has the look of being made from wood that may have came from a different piece.

There may be something distinctive about the latch which could offer a date.

To me it has an 1890s look. At that time many home restrooms didn't have built in cabinets. It could be a medicine cabinet or such.

It is a nice looking cabinet. If you need a use, set it in the kitchen and use it for a spice cabinet.

Yeah, 7" shelves are a little short for most liquor bottles.

Ok, lemme throw this at you: The back's a glued-up panel, and there are two old hangers on the top of the back as well. So it appears this cabinet, with its turned feet, was hung at some point.

The stains on the bottom shelf could be from an ink bottle.
Just a thought.
