I did this potpourrie' dish out of an extremely well seasoned cedar tree from SWMBO's parents farm. The tree had been lying in a pile for years and years, just waiting for me to come along.:) My question is this ... are there different types of Cedar? I turned some last week that had been drying for 30 years and it was still red inside and very aromatic. This stuff is a brownish red, and has hardly any smell at all. The wood, with a clear danish oil applied, turned a very dark brown. It's a beautiful wood ... I was just curious why the two samples would be so different in color.
