My Oneway 1224 lathe was delivered between Christmas and New Years. I've got the 220 wiring finished and the lathe is operational. I've made a pepper mill and several pens so far. I like it...http://www.sawmillcreek.org/images/icons/icon7.png I like it...http://www.sawmillcreek.org/images/icons/icon7.png I like it... http://www.sawmillcreek.org/images/icons/icon7.png

Several years ago I upgraded my old Rockwell/Delta to variable speed with a 3 phase motor and a VFD drive. The old Delta, no longer needed, has been sold with it's original motor.

The 3 phase motor with the VFD drive has now been installed on my home built bowl lathe. The bowl lathe has a 3 step pulley system so I should have a wide range of torque and speed.

Dale.......congratulations! Your setup looks really nice! Glad you got it all done! I might have to invite myself over and give both those a spin sometime! :D Hope to see you at Saturday's meeting!

That's a beauty Dale, enjoy! I like your organization. Everything looks easy to access. Do you have dust collection?

Doug, I have a dust collection system for my bowl lathe. I'll get one setup for my new lathe soon.

Everyone, I had some chips on the floor, but cleaned them up before taking the photos. Next time I'll be sure to leave them on the floor for the photos.

Thanks for looking...

Very nice set up, like it a lot.

Came across a Oneway 1640 in Ashland, KY in case anyone is looking (not mine)

Dale, you are going to love that lathe. I have one and it is my favorite of all my lathes(2436, Robust Liberty, Jet 1220 and Jet 1221). I like the looks of your bowl lathe.

Thanks Joe, I know I'm going to enjoy the 1224. Although, I spend more time using my bowl lathe than my other lathe, the old Delta and now the 1224. Now, with the variable speed VFD drive I'll enjoy it even more.

Nice Dale! I bought a 1224 too & can't wait to get mine. It is supposed to be shipped from Oneway this week! Should be here in 2-3 weeks from today.

Congratulations on your new lathe. With the Oneway for spindles and smaller bowls etc and your bowl lathe you appear to be all set.

I learned on a Oneway. they are hard to beat. Do you have a thread on the bowl lathe? That looks very cool too.

Jim, My 1224 was delivered one week after it was shipped and that was during the Christmas holidays. I'm sure you will love it.

Dennis, I have some info on my bowl lathe on my web site: http://www.winburn.com/BowlLathe.asp

Thanks Dale. I've thought about building something much like yours but would use this tool rest instead. I can swing 30" on the lathe I have now, but I don't need the 7 feet between centers....that is just waising space in my small shop.

One week shipping is pretty fast Dale! They tell me mine is being crated today and will be on it's way tomorrow. Bad weather back there though, so it may take longer to get all the way out west..
