Not long ago a small bedside table was made for the LOML.

Turns out she wanted more things at her bedside than she first thought.

So here is the new bigger model:

281059

Just wish my turning abilities were a bit better.

This is almost all scrap and leftovers.

The legs are actually made out of the fat stickers that are in the stacks at the Orange Borg. The guy in the lumber department let me have them since I was buying other lumber that day.

Neat, Jim. Does the shelf act as a stretcher, or is it just a captured shelf? Giving me ideas...

Turnings look good to me. Nice piece. Are you planning to put a finish on it?

Great job using free lumber and making it into something nice. Someone else would have burned it in their stove and you brought it back to life in a way that looks as good as purchased lumber.

Thanks all for the kind words.

Scott,

That is a captured shelf. Candy likes to lay her book on it when she is about to doze. This is another piece that was involved in being built while it is too cold to glue in the shop. It only has M&T joinery and isn't quite tight enough for as much as it gets bumped or moved. So the clamps came in the house for a glue up.

Sean,

There are a few coats of spray shellac on the top. Other than that Candy and I both like bare wood.

Pretty cool Jim. Good of you to give those "scraps and leftovers" a second life. Nicely done.

What's the approximate dimensions?

Thanks Mike and Judson.

How bout some basic dimensions? ... What's the approximate dimensions?

Oops! Forgot the important information.

The table is about 15" tall. The ellipse top is 16X24".
