I'm really stuck on sandpaper rolls. There doesn't seem to be any problem finding grits from 120 to 400. After that it becomes more difficult. I did find some 600 grit and thought I had found 800 also. However the place ran out of stock and said that roll only comes from Taiwan and takes months to get here. The cloth backed rolls are really nice for turning apps though.

Does anyone know where to get sandpaper rolls of 600 and 800 grit? Thanks for any info.

My best guess would be to get hold of VincesWoodNWonders.

Have you tried Kingspors woodworking shop at www.woodworkingshop.com? They have rolls up to 2000, and their bargain box of cut offs are a great deal, although those only include up to 400.

Thanks. I probably missed the higher grit rolls on Klingspor before because they have psa backing. I just bought some anyway. The rolls on Vince's are $77 each and I really don't need that kind of quantity. You can buy it for $4 a yard though. There's really not a lot of suppliers for the higher grits in rolls that I could find. I had bought a few sheets of 800, 1000, and 1200 at the hardware store and it's pretty thin and needs some kind of backing. Since everything that I've read says to sand to 1200 grit for pens, I guess I thought finer grit papers would be more widely available.

Just go to the auto parts store or anyplace that sells automotive painting supplies.

Thanks David, that's what I've been doing for synthetic steel wool. I think that I may have one of your books somewheree.
