Anyway, I wonder how an end grain bench would hold up? Would there be any sagging issues?

That's a mighty big cutting board. I wouldn't think it would be suitable without a substrate....and it would have to be a pretty stout one at that! Even then the pic of the clamping system to glue it down would be a sight!!

I wish direct links were allowed....so much easier and I fail to see where they cause a problem on any forum.

I may be wrong, but teak isn't the best thing to use for a work top, or a cutting board surface. I seem to recall that is can splinter. Works great as brightwork for boat applications, and ages well as outdoor funiture. Bob Smalser can give you the skinny, I'm sure.BTW, Rockler has 25 X 48 birch tops for a lot less.
